We are in receipt of your communication of 14th inst., and in compliance with your request

we have much pleasure in hereby amending the guarantee of the 6th instant by inserting

the additional word "reasonably" in the context thereof; the said undertaking

reads as follows: "We hereby undertake to His Majesty's Government for any balance that may remain

of the proceeds of the goods after satisfaction of our claims, including sums reasonably expended

in establishing, forwarding and selling,
